Whooper Swans – 18th October

Near the dry-end of the Slurry Lagoon a Redpoll and then a Brambling were heard, calling as they flew over. On the Slurry Lagoon good numbers of Lapwing, Wigeon and Shoveler were present and four Common Snipe were seen along the beach. Later in the morning two Whooper Swans flew fairly low over the site towards the south and three flocks, each of from forty to seventy, of Pink-footed Geese flew to the north-east. Along the Pylon Path a flock of forty Redwings flew across and over the Deep Pit. Late morning a Raven was seen as it flew and croaked over the Slurry Lagoon and several Siskins flew over. PS.

Raven – Peter Smith.
