Description
Body length 5mm. The thorax is pale orange and bristly, paler on the abdomen, and the eyes are red.
Habitat
Woodland edge, brown-field sites. Can be seen on foliage, the larvae feed on decaying vegetation or the micro-organisms found within it.
Status and Distribution
Widespread and fairly common throughout Britain. Common in Nottinghamshire and recorded at Netherfield Lagoons.
Best Time to See
May to October.
