Tachinid Fly

Nemorilla floralis

Description

Over all length 7 – 10mm.  This tachinid is coloured in shades of buff and grey. The thorax is dark with some paler stripes and the abdomen is pale with a dark central stripe and dark lines between the segments. The head has a collar of buffish hairs.

Habitat

Woodland edge and hedgerows. 

Status and Distribution

Not very common and restricted to the southern half of Britain. Recorded occasionally on the reserve.
